Triple Hill’s Vortex Synthetic Eddy Method

The generation of initial or inflow synthetic turbulent velocity scalar fields reproducing statistical characteristics realistic turbulence is still a challenge. eddy method, previously introduced in the context conditions for large simulations, based on assumption that can be regarded as superposition coherent structures. In this paper, new type method proposed, where fundamental constructed by superposing three Hill’s vortices, with their axes orthogonal to each other. A distribution vortices used synthesize an anisotropic field satisfies incompressibility condition and match given Reynolds stress tensor. amplitudes form are calculated from known profiles through transformation physical reference frame principal-axis frame. way, divergence-free obtained reproduce model was tested both isotropic fields, framework grid decay channel flow, respectively. transition artificial proximity boundary found small all test cases were considered.
